Debrunner Acifer AG (DA) is part of the Debrunner Koenig Group – one of Switzerland’s leading trading companies for construction, industry, and commerce. Founded in 1755, the long-established company has firmly established itself in four business areas: Reinforcement, Steel & Metal, Metal Services, and Technical Products. With more than 160,000 stocked items, Debrunner Acifer covers the entire value chain – offering its customers exactly what they need: availability, quality, and service.
Early on, Debrunner Acifer recognized the opportunities of digitalization and established a clear multichannel strategy: products are available not only in trade centers or through the field sales team, but also in the e-shop, via app, and through the bws® logistics solutions. To ensure this strategy remains competitive in the future, the company was looking for a solution to onboard new suppliers more quickly, expand the product range flexibly, and at the same time maintain the highest level of data quality.
The goal: increase revenue through a broader product offering – without additional manual effort.
However, the existing data maintenance processes reached their limits with this additional volume: too many manual steps, excessively long processing times, too little scalability. What was needed was a modern, AI-powered solution that could process product data efficiently and prepare it optimally for digital sales.
How Onedot Helped
With Onedot’s product data platform, Debrunner Acifer found exactly this solution. The entire onboarding process for supplier catalogs is now clearly structured and largely automated:
- Upload & Cleaning – Supplier catalogs are uploaded, automatically cleaned, and matched with existing data. Only the desired products in the right quality continue in the process.
- Automatic Categorization – The Onedot AI precisely assigns products to Debrunner Acifer’s category tree – checking against more than 1,221 target categories.
- Attribute Mapping – 3,167 target attributes are automatically verified and correctly assigned.
- Normalization – Units are standardized, value lists are maintained, and product variants are created.
- Import – Finally, a ready-to-use import file is generated, which can be directly integrated into the product database.
Result: Over 52,000 SKUs have already been fully automated into the system – in just a fraction of the time the process previously required.
The Result
With Onedot, Debrunner Acifer has significantly expanded its product range without increasing manual maintenance effort. The time-to-market for new items has been shortened considerably, with immediate positive effects on both internal workload and revenue.
Thanks to the new scalability, Debrunner Acifer plans to process even more supplier catalogs via the Onedot platform in the future – and to further expand its own supplier portal.
